Questions from league directors

Can coaches get certified online?

California's law says CPR/AED training can be done in person or online. It must come from an accredited organization and follow national evidence-based cardiovascular care guidelines. The law doesn't define “accredited organization,” and some governing bodies set their own rules, so check with yours before you buy seats.

Who counts as a coach?

The law defines a coach as a person the organization appoints to supervise or instruct participants. Many leagues include assistant coaches, and your league sets its own policy. See our guide to volunteer and assistant coaches.

How long does certification last?

Two years. Each certificate shows the date issued and the expiration date.

Do seats expire?

No. Buy seats now and assign them whenever a coach joins.

Can coaches pay for themselves?

Yes. Coaches can buy their own seat, or your league can buy prepaid seats for everyone.

How do we see who has finished?

Your admin portal shows enrollment, status and completion certificates for every coach.

How can a registrar check a certificate?

Use our certificate lookup at /verify-certificate/.

Do you offer hands-on training?

Yes. Optional in-person skills sessions are available for teams and leagues. Details: https://a-b-cpr.com/host-a-class/

What about the emergency plan and AEDs?

Our free checklist walks through the plan, the yearly parent notice and AED access. We also sell and rent AEDs.
